PANDEMIC DISEASE: UNEXPECTED IN EVERY SENSE
WHAT IS A PANDEMIC DISEASE
A pandemic disease is a catastrophic disease that exceeds beyond coasts and boundaries of countries without subtleness, while simultaneously taking lives of people with it. A pandemic disease is a form of epidemic manifesting in an ugly manner that runs along a course which is unpredictable by man and his elements.
A pandemic disease is very extensive and outbreak is usually within a sudden range in which countries and federations affected may not be fully equipped to handle its devastating effects.
One intriguing yet alarming fact about a pandemic disease is the rate of spread it usually has. Most are air-borne, water or fluid borne and this dexterity it possesses makes it difficult to curb its spread. Pandemic diseases have been studied and to an extent, their causative is usually a virus. Viruses are biological pathogens which are capable of existing in both living and non-living phase. This genius characteristic allows them to survive on surfaces for a stretched period of time pending the arrival of a host. The replicable ability of viruses cannot be underestimated as once they arrive within a host, they duplicate until their effects are wide spread. Most viral diseases have no cure due to the complexity of the nature of the virus involved.
The global nature of a pandemic disease usually requires the attention of health organizations world-wide, like the World Health Organizations because of the general decline it amounts to in all sectors of the world.
Over the centuries past, the earth has been victim to so many unforgettable plagues. In fact, currently, the world has found herself face-first with a particularly traumatizing outbreak generally known as the “Covid-19 Virus” which has claimed so many millions of lives and counting. Some other pandemics that have run their course on earth includes:
The West African Ebola Virus in the year 2014.
The H1N1 Swine Flu in the year 2009.
AIDS pandemic since 1981
Asian Flu in the year 1957
The devastating Spanish flu in the year 1918.
The American Polio in the year 1916.
Pandemics have the strength and capability to completely wipe out an entire generation of not properly managed. Since eradication can prove difficult, safety practices should be incorporated in order to reduce the damaging effects of pandemics and some include:
General isolation of infected areas.
Quarantine of foreign persons migrating during the whole course of the pandemic.
Implementation of general hygienic practices in homes and public places.
Separation of infected people from healthy ones and proper monitoring of the sick.
Research should be carried out by the affluent scientists on what drugs or prescriptions or in other cases, vaccines to be administered.
Restriction of movement of people when necessary.
Pandemics have no demarcation and boundary whatsoever, so countries should learn the important action of team work, which can go a long way in helping to minimize its disadvantageous effects coupled with the losses it creates. Unity is the only strength and leverage the world has against a pandemic.
